Crafted from Mexican denim, dyed with the bark of the native Quina tree, and hand-embroidered by women from the lands of Tenancingo and Temoaya, this garment pays homage to the Mayan Axe [approx. 550-950 AD], a symbol of Mayan cultural heritage, which sold for $325,000 at Sotheby's auction house in New York.
